I am indebted to everyone who has given me their valuable time and talent in putting this album together. I am sincerely grateful to all the musicians for their input whether it be small or a large one and help with some of the arrangement of the songs. I am very touched I had some brilliant singers willing to sing my songs. Andy, Jo, John, Liam, Marc and Rachel - Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
I would especially wish to thank Marc’s contribution to the backing vocal arrangements without which – well you know …
I would also like to thank Steve Atko who came on board when I moved over from Liverpool to Meols and who got the sounds that I needed for each of the songs. I look forward to working with you on the next project from the beginning.
Finally - This album is dedicated to Steve Owen for the many many hours of showing me pro-tools and his amazing musicianship and for getting me back to doing recording of my songs.

Intruders Back Cover

Background to the Recordings

These songs were – in the main – written in the 1990’s after I had “retired” from Live Bands (The Persuaders) and was still writing with a view to doing ‘something’ or ‘other’.
The “other “was a project with former Persuader John Gillin called “Urge” which was a hobby of recording a bunch of each of our songs at an expensive cost of £25 per hour ( unless we got a good rate) in a professional studio with the kindly assistance of friends who were talented musicians as well.
By mid 2000’s it was clear that the “Something” was never going to happen until I popped round to Steve Owen’s flat and saw him working from home with a music recording application called Pro-Tools . His recordings were as good as anything I had heard from a professional studio and after 20 seconds of listening to his recordings I asked him to let me know what kind of set up I would need a home and got a shopping list from him and an assurance that he would guide me through setting it up and giving me some advice on how to work it. This he duly did which I am eternally grateful for. The hours and hours of advice, guidance and musicianship he bestowed upon these sessions I will be forever in his debt and has given me the confidence to resurrect, in part, a career I thought was of my past.
My thanks also extend to all the musicians and friends who gave their time and patience to this project.
Why Intruders? Well I have a back log of songs that I always wanted to record at some point but I initially intended to write some new songs as well. The more I thought about what songs to do, the pressure of all my older songs always came to forefront of my mind “intruding” upon any ideas of writing newer songs. I also read a great book by AM Burrage called “Intruders” during these sessions which I thought was a great title.
So – With recordings started at home in at the Littlestar Studios of West Derby, Liverpool and finished off with Steve Atkinson in my new home in Meols on the Wirral – Please find “Intruders” by John Jenkins and That Sure Thing.
Dedicated to Steve Owen for his patience and guidance in these recordings
