I am now taking Pre-Orders for the forthcoming album “Tuebrook” on CD.
Those who kindly make a pre-order will get a free download of the album as soon as it becomes available (about 2 weeks before the physical CD). I expect this to be towards the end of June 2023. The physical album is to be released on Friday 7th July 2023. With this pre-ordered album, as well as receiving the digital download I will include exclusive bonus tracks not available on the CD and with any pre-orders I will also send you a free download copy of my new single “Christopher Roberts” which released Friday 5th May 2023 with your payment. The Album contains 11 tracks as follows: • Shadows • Christopher Roberts • Maybe I Just Came Along for the Ride • Idaho • Passing Time • 43 and Counting • She Feels Nothing • A Child’s Sense of Wonder • William • A Sadness Far Too Heavy (Lost in the Storm) • Mr Ford’s Hardware Store

The album is quite personal; many of the songs relate to people and things I recall from living near “Tuebrook”. I lived in West Derby but on the border of West Derby/Tuebrook although at one time where I lived (Borella Road) it became “Stoneycroft”, then went back to “West Derby” and then one day in the 2000’s the road sign of showing the boundaries of “West Derby” began was moved a little further up ‘West Derby Road’ on which meant we were moved to Tuebrook. Certainly, I went to Junior and Infants School at St Cecilia’s in Green Lane, Tuebrook and my school friends all lived in Tuebrook. About half the songs on the album are about ‘Tuebrook’ or characters or feelings I have about the place. I should point out this is not “Tuebrook The Musical”. They are stand-alone songs that have some thematic link. I made a big decision to have this album pretty much stripped back and the bigger arranged songs I have been working on as well at the same time will be part of my next release or some of the free bonus tracks I’ll be sending out, I get asked quite a bit to release a stripped-back album, to record one without the big fuller arranged songs that have the kitchen sink thrown in so this town around I’ve taken this on board and I hope you enjoy this artistic decision. It also makes sense as I’ll be touring in July around the UK with Pippa Murdie so it’ll be an album I can play quite faithfully to the recorded version.

As usual, I’ve been working at Crosstown Studios with my wonderful Co-Producer ‘Jon Lawton’. Additional Musicians on this release are Pippa Murdie and Chris Howard. Finally, I would just like to say a big thank you to those that have supported me and my music over the last few years. It is never taken for granted and very much appreciated. I hope you enjoy this new album as much as I have enjoyed working on it over the last few months.

Love John x

Expected release: July 7, 2023
