Songs From My Front Room # 12 - The Wrong Side of Sadness (with Pippa Murdie)

Songs From My Front Room" # 12 - The Wrong Side of Sadness”

Hi friends, Number 12 in my blog sessions.

It’s been a while from Number 11 to this – In the main because I released the “Desert Hearts” Single a few weeks ago and I have been bust promoting this plus I wanted to make sure that got the full attention.

I’m about 90% or more into the new album which will be called “If You Can’t Forgive You Can’t Love”.

I’ve a couple of tracking sessions to do then I’m onto the mixes. I’m really pleased with it. I I had in my head that it was quite mellow like the “Growing Old – Songs from My Front Porch” album but I’m surprised how many songs have ended up upbeat. This song is a prime example. I’d been playing it as a quite quiet guitar vocal song but the recording of it has turned into a Gospelly all out song! With Lee Shone’s Piano and Robert Vincent’s backing vocals it’s something else.

Here is a stripped back version with me and my mate Pippa Murdie playing some nice guitar bits.

Watch out for some tour dates I’m putting together in the Summer – Covid Permitting

This week’s listening at home has been the usual eclectic mix, ranging from the superb song “Straight Lines” from Only Child, PJ Harvey “Dry Demos”, Harmonia “Musik Von Harmonia” and the wonderful album “The Balladeer” by Lori McKenna

TV – Just finished the comedy “Hello Ladies” which made me want to watch from behind the cushion due to the embarrassing situations Stephen Merchant put himself into. Also watched a great Icelandic Film “Rams”.

Reading “The Bride of Lammermoor” the Sir Walter Scott Gothic novel.

Ok –That’s it for me this week.

Take care and stay safe xx
