Songs From My Front Room # 9 - Am Not i a Man or Even a Brother

Jan 11th 2021 - Songs From My Front Room" # 9 -  “Am Not I A Man or Even a Brother”

Hi friends,

Number 9 on my blog.

Happy New Year to everyone, lets hope it’s a safe and happy one for us all.

Firstly the good news is that I can confirm I have signed to the Wonderful “Fretsore Records” Label. I am so happy to share this news and cannot wait to put some songs out with their team. They have a fabulous roster which reminds me of the “Stiff Record Label” back in the 70s.

I start work on my new album – Officially – On January 21st 2021 however I have about 6 songs already started or in the can. I have written that many new songs of late that I really want to see how the recordings go so I can decide what feel I am getting for the album.

This week’s tune is a new song – It was written for the Liverpool Acoustic Songwriting Challenge and I’m quite proud of it.

It didn’t get me in the final this time but I’m not disappointed. That just gears me up to try harder next time.

If you are free on Saturday night (16th) do tune in to this years “Liverpool Acoustic Songwriting Challenge” – It’s a wonderful event and the songs are always quite diverse and very worthy to be finalists.

I always say this but we have so much great talent on Merseyside that events like this  highlight how amazing the arts are locally. So give “the Voice” or “Strictly a Miss and watch it on catch up and support your local songwriters.

This week’s listening has been quite varied as usual, Nanci Griffith, Trees (70s Folk Band), Dwight Yoakam, and an obscure Jazz Album by Harry Beckett.

Classical music I’m listening to is Vaughan-Williams

TV – I had a Daniel Craig James Bond Film fest in my house this last week.

Reading – Currently reading two books – Crime and Punishment by Dostoevsky and The Charles Dickens Christmas Books – A Christmas Carol has got to be my favourite story of all time

So that’s all this
