‘Do You Ever Think About Me?’ is the fourth release of the year by John Jenkins, in follow-up to his critically acclaimed album ‘Tuebrook’, released in July 2023, and the March and April 2024 and May 2024 standalone tracks ‘The Reason’, ‘Bury Myself in the Sand’, and ‘I Don’t Want to be That Guy Anymore’
It is the fourth of six-monthly tracks to be released that, thematically, wouldn’t fit on my ‘Tuebrook’ album.
Just like the 3 previous tracks released this year, I was conscious that this song showed a more eclectic songwriting style than what I have been known for from my recent albums. I always wanted to write songs for other artists and when I had my band many moons ago, I had 2 amazing singers in John Kennedy and Siobhan Maher-Kennedy that I was able to write for. In recent years I have had other amazing singers sing my songs such as Robert Vincent, Ian Prowse, Motel Sundown, Only Child, Emelle, Vanessa Murray etc.
This song is a ‘relationship song’ but not autobiographical I should say. I guess most of us that have failed relationships often think about their ex’s and wonder if they are ever given us a second thought after the breakup. That’s the basis of this song. The wonderful musicians Jon Lawson, Chris Howard and Tony Peers join me on this song
