AUK Essential Americana VOL 6 No. 8 (August 2023) features "Christopher Roberts" from 'TUEBROOK' Album

Just got this email:

Welcome to this month's AUK supporters email where you'll find a link to our usual collection of the best Americana we've set our ears on over the last month along with our usual giveaway for one lucky reader.

In our exclusive collection for subscribers this month, we have new music from Athens Georgia's Pink Stones (pictured above) whose new album we described as "Reinvigorated country rock with hints of soul, gospel, psych and dub", from Joana Serrat’s new band project Riders of the Canyon which blends classic Americana influences in a self-titled collection, and tracks from the star-studded new albums by both M Ward and Rufus Wainright - we've chosen tracks from each featuring First Aid Kit and Brandi Carlile respectively, both of whom we are happy to shoehorn into our compilations whenever we can. There's new music from UK Americana band William the Conqueror with an interesting story behind it - Following the imposition of lockdown restrictions, Ruarri Joseph found himself cocooned at home in Cornwall, ruminating on an uncertain creative future, watching on as his wife Mandy, a mental health social worker, engaged head-on with the dilemmas of the pandemic.  Her example motivated Joseph to become a temporary care worker, an experience which would provide renewed focus and influence the songwriting on the new WTC album ‘Excuse Me While I Vanish'. Idahoan Eilen Jewell returns with an album which "crafts optimistic melodicism from the hardest of times", Madelyn Read's debut album continues the great tradition of Canadian singer-songwriters, using the sounds of country and folk to tell vivid stories of urban life, and we have a song from the superb new album from Ags Connolly of authentic-sounding Texas border-style music recorded deep in the wilds of Oxfordshire.
