I am now taking Pre-Orders for my forthcoming album Tuebrook” on CD.

Those who kindly make a pre-order will also get a free download of the album as soon as it becomes available (about 2 weeks before the physical CD, which is due for release on Friday 7th July 2023).

With this pre-ordered album, as well as receiving the digital download I will include exclusive bonus tracks not available on the CD and with any pre-orders I will also send you a free download copy of my new single “Christopher Robertswhich was released on Friday 5th May 2023.

The album contains 11 tracks:

  • Shadows
  • Christopher Roberts
  • Maybe I Just Came Along for the Ride
  • Idaho
  • Passing Time
  • 43 and Counting
  • She Feels Nothing
  • A Child’s Sense of Wonder
  • William
  • A Sadness Far Too Heavy (Lost in the Storm)
  • Mr Ford’s Hardware Store

The album is quite personal; many of the songs relate to people and things I recall from Tuebrook.

I lived in West Derby but on the border of West Derby/Tuebrook, although at one time Borella Road where I lived became Stoneycroft, then it went back to West Derby”, and then one day in the 2000s the road sign showing the boundaries of West Derby was moved a little further up West Derby Road which meant we were moved to Tuebrook.

I went to Junior and Infants School at St Cecilias in Green Lane, Tuebrook and my school friends all lived in Tuebrook.

About half the songs on the album are about Tuebrook or characters or feelings I have about the place. I should point out this is not Tuebrook The Musical. They are stand-alone songs that have some thematic link.

I made a big decision to have this album pretty much stripped back and the bigger arranged songs I have been working on at the same time will be part of my next release or some of the free bonus tracks I will be sending out. I get asked quite a bit to release a stripped-back album, to record one without the big fuller arranged songs that have the kitchen sink thrown in, so this time around Ive taken this on board and I hope you enjoy this artistic decision. It also makes sense as I will be touring in July around the UK with Pippa Murdie so it will be an album I can play quite faithfully to the recorded version.

As usual, I have been working at Crosstown Studios with my wonderful Co-Producer Jon Lawton. Additional musicians on this release are Pippa Murdie and Chris Howard.

Finally, I would just like to say a big thank you to those that have supported me and my music over the last few years. It is never taken for granted and very much appreciated. I hope you enjoy this new album as much as I have enjoyed working on it over the last few months.

Love John x

Expected release: July 7, 2023
