As some of you may know, alongside writing songs I also dabble in music journalism from time to time, contributing reviews to magazines such as Country Music People and American Highways. I co‑present a radio show with David Nixon called The Garden Party, and—together with Pippa Murdie—we run a monthly open mic night at The Denbigh Castle. We’ve even started putting on occasional live shows there, including Dean Owens on 11th September 2026. And when I’m not doing all that, I squeeze in a bit of writing too.

Today I’m really pleased to say that a short story of mine has been published on the Americana UK website. It’s called Just One of Those Nights. It’s complete fiction, although a few details may have been borrowed from personal experience… but I’ll leave you guessing which ones.
