I'm delighted to share that my short story, Just One of Those Nights, has been featured in a new Americana UK article looking back at the magazine's recent fiction series.
In his article, writer Tim Martin explores the themes that emerged from the ten stories published during the series and reflects on what they reveal about Americana music, storytelling and community. I was honoured to see Just One of Those Nights included among the stories discussed.
Tim wrote:
"John Jenkins' Just One of Those Nights finds comedy in the merch table, the promoter who wants a following before he will book you, and the dream collaboration that turns out to be too good to be true."
He went on to note that these details help give the series its authenticity and celebrate "the small rooms, short sets and loyal friends that keep grassroots music alive."
As someone who spends a great deal of time performing, reviewing music and supporting the independent music scene, it was especially gratifying to see those real-life experiences reflected in the story and recognised by Americana UK.

Thank you to Americana UK, Tim Martin, and everyone who has read and supported the story.
