Fretsore Records has signed Liverpool singer-songwriter John Jenkins to its roster

The signing comes ahead of a series of new music releases that Jenkins has been working on in the recording studio. Fans can expect a first taste of the new material in the coming months with a full album due later in 2021.

The upcoming release follows Jenkins 2020 album ‘Growing Old – Songs from my Front Porch‘ which received critical acclaim in the likes of Maverick Magazine, RnR, Americana UK, Fatea and Liverpool Sound and Vision.

On the signing Jenkins states;

“I met Ian at the AMAUK 2020 Conference and as he was talking about his label I thought “Wow, what a lovely label to be part of. Great artists & people running it”. Later on that year, as part of a radio show I was hosting each week, I’d be knocked out by the quality of the music that the label was sending to me and releasing. I can’t wait to start work on my release and be part of this quality label. It’s a great honour and privilege for me and very exciting to say the least.”

Jenkins is the latest addition to Fretsore’s roster, which includes multiple acclaimed artists in the Americana genre. Label owner and fellow-Liverpudlian Ian Sephton adds;
“With an accomplished self-released back catalogue, culminating in last year’s very well received ‘Growing Old – Songs from my Front Porch‘ album, John Jenkins just gets better and better. So I was delighted that he approached me to discuss releasing his next album on Fretsore, his addition to our roster gives us further credibility as a UK Americana label. 2021 is looking very exciting for John and the label!”

As a member of his own James Street Band, along with performances with The Persuaders and Come in Tokio, John Jenkins has shared stages with the likes of Elvis Costello, Chris Difford (Squeeze), Echo and The Bunnymen, The Beat and Jarrod Dickenson.
