Andy Dyson -
John asked Andy to do a couple of songs - He's never been involved in music other than Karaoke (and he's brilliant on this too) - Anyway he came in - sang each of the songs on the day 3 times and went home - each take was brilliant and as professional as you would want and for someone with no studio experience he was as good as any of the pro's John has seen and worked with.
Email Andy on gemini978@hotmail.com
Gaz Gaskell
Gaz is a legend in the Liverpool Music scene - Was part of Supercharge and has his own band - His web site can be found under www.gazgaskell.com or emailed at info@gazgaskell.com
River City People
Siobhan Maher (Kennedy) and Paul Speed were both in "The Persuaders" when they put together a band with Paul's brother Tim and Siobhan's boyfriend Dave a band called "River City People" - John did a little bit of keyboards on a couple of songs with them myself. When leaving "The Persuaders" RCP got a major recording deal with EMI and recorded two great albums and some wonderful singles that are well worth checking out. I don’t think there is a dedicated internet site to RCP but there is lots of stuff out there on the internet and YouTube worth a good look.
Siobhan also made an album/cd with Debbi Peterson (The Bangles) under the name Kindred Spirit and her own album under Siobhan Maher-Kennedy called "Immigrant Flower" and I recommend this highly. She has just done some backing vocals on Richard Thompson's album "Electric" (2013) and played live in Nashville with him where she lives.
Barrie Mills (Photographer)
Quite a few of The Persuaders promo photos from 1986 were taken by Barrie and if you need professional photographs for your project these are his contact details - 07940184927. Check John Kennedy and Jo Smullin's photographs from 2012.
Phil Wylie
Phil has been a big influence on John as a songwriter (as well as Marc V) and he has learnt a lot of his trade when he was the keyboard player for COME IN TOKIO in 1981-1983. There is no actual website for CIT but Phil has a MySpace music page under www.myspace.com/comeintokio . So he can be contacted there.
Incidentally - There is also a video of CIT from a Granada TV Programme called Exchange Flags of the band (John J included and John Gillin) doing the fab song “ Say You’ll never go away again” on you tube – This is held on John's YouTube page. Phil is also on Facebook too and there is a Come in Tokio Facebook page as well. Like the Personal Column stuff – there are some great songs from the 80’s to be found here.
Dave Goldberg
John has asked Dave a few times to do some organ solos on my songs as he’s a wonderful keyboard player. Two of the songs he’s on are “When there’s nothing left to say” from the "Intruders" and “Dangerous” from the Doris Day Persuaders Sessions from 1989.
He’s a member of Liverpool Express. To contact Dave you can do this on 0151 475 0954. He is also on Facebook too.
Steve Roberts
John has not seen Steve in a long time – the last time John saw him was probably when he sang on the Urge song “Bitter Harvest”. Steve was initially in bands around the same time as when “The Persuaders” started and had great success with his own band “16 Tambourine’s” at the end of the 80’s. Steve has his own web site as follows; www.steverobertsmusic.co.uk
Perry Leach
