Songs From My Front Room" # 2
“The Last Train from Baltimore”
Hi friends,
Week number 2 on this bloggy thing. As I said last week thought I’d start posting a few songs I had written over coming weeks with a little blog just keeping people up to date on things at this crazy time.
So this is Episode 2 of “Songs from My Front Room”.
About the song – another new one.
This is called “The Last Train from Baltimore”
I have a friend whose nephew was killed on a railway line. Obviously very sad for the family but I always think about how the driver must feel in situations like this.
And Newspapers always like a good story even if it’s wrong.
This week’s listening has been very diverse as usual. I’m listening to “Bobbie Gentry” as I type this “The Delta Sweetie”.
Still playing my album of the week from last week ““Mary Chapin Carpenter’s” – The Dirt and The Stars.
This weeks Album of the week is something a bit out of the box … “Jake Thackray” – Ideal.
Growing up Jake was always on the TV but I admit to not being able to grasp what he was about at such a young age. Now listening to the songs, I find a whit and humour that is exceptionally clever and the music is cool too. .
Books - I am enjoying a 1920’s fiction book by EH Young called “William”
I was collecting the old Penguin Books that came out from 1935 and this one I think is the 8th book they printed.
Telly wise – Saw the wonderful documentary about the Bluebird Café that was released last year
It must be a bucket list thing to play there.
For those queuing up to see if they can play you have to play a verse and a chorus from one of your songs to try and impress the Bluebird folk.
I wouldn’t have a clue which song I’d choose myself – It must be very difficult for anyone.
Ok thanks for reading this and listening to my song – hopefully you’ll tune in to the next episode?
Till then take care and stay safe xx
